Rather than restarting that\u00a0program exclusively\u00a0for Tsawwassen Scouts, we intend to expand the program to include Scout Groups\u00a0in\u00a0the whole\u00a0Vancouver region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-left is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><em>We are seeking\u00a0the donation of a well-maintained 35-40 foot sailboat. The\u00a0donor will receive a tax-deductible receipt from Scouts Canada\u00a0for the boat\u2019s full surveyed value.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The sailboat being sought needs to\u00a0be in good sailing condition and be rigged in a manner that makes sailing\u00a0easy\u00a0for novice sailors.\u00a0\u00a0For example, wheel\u00a0steerage and sail controls handled from the cockpit.\u00a0\u00a0Given that\u00a0there could be as many as ten\u00a0aboard for up to two days at any given time, the boat will need to have\u00a0plumbing and holding tanks to accommodate anticipated demands.\u00a0\u00a0Autopilot, electronic charts and a\u00a0motor-equipped dingy would be most welcome but not essential. We are indebted\u00a0to Point Roberts Marina who\u00a0graciously agreed to provide moorage for the\u00a0donated boat.\u00a0\u00a0Qualifying boats will be\u00a0surveyed at our cost to\u00a0establish the vessel\u2019s value and to identify potential\u00a0deferred maintenance issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To\u00a0illustrate the program\u2019s potential, here are some testimonials from former Sea\u00a0Scouts and a Sea Scout\u00a0Mom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Linda:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cLife lessons were\u00a0invaluable as I built my career as an outdoor wilderness guide, and now manager\u00a0at the global headquarters of World Scouting.\u00a0\u00a0My fondest Sea Scout memory remains working alongside my\u00a0peers to achieve\u00a0a monumental and shared goal.\u201d<br><strong>Danielle:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cI learned so much\u00a0about the ocean, awareness on and off water, general boating and\u00a0responsibility\u00a0as a Sea Scout.\u201d<br><strong>Taylor:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cI learned much more\u00a0than any 14-year-old could ever have imagined.
